She Knows Better...

Yesterday we were at my parent's house for our standing Sunday afternoon lunch and hangout. Before we left, I realized that I was seriously craving some brownies.

J stopped at the grocery store on the way home and got what we needed and even made the brownies for me when we got home. After dinner I indulged in just one brownie even though I wanted to eat half the pan. I actually like them better the "second day" so I had a plan for a breakfast brownie, a lunch brownie, a dinner brownie, etc. - you get the idea.

So, we left them in the pan on the kitchen counter and they were covered with a paper towel. I know - not the best storage technique but I was going to get to that today.

And here is where she comes in...



I caught her with her nasty little doggie snout in the tray of brownies!!! She was able to reach them by standing on the back of the chair and putting her front paws on the counter.

On the left you can see where J and I each had one brownie. Now look to the bottom right. See all that dark area - that is the area she desecrated.

Needless to say, I won't be having any of those brownies - ever.

Friday Night Lights

We decided to go to the local high school football game last night.

We sat with Miss Amanda who cuts Wyatt's hair. She was introducing us to her mother-in-law. Wyatt looked at the woman and said "And we live in the stinky ole blue house." Oh yes, he was totally referring to the Simple Life and I have no idea why he felt it was necessary to add that bit of information to our introduction. I just smiled and said we were in the process of building and he was ready to be moved into the new house.



I can't wait for SEC Football to begin - we are Alabama fans but will watch any SEC game. Jeremy got us tickets to the Alabama game on September 19th. Of course I was hoping we would be moving that weekend but, oh well, what is one more week at this point?

What's the Saying...A Mind Like a Steel Trap?

Wy started back at Mother's Morning Out today.

It was raining at the Simple Life so I waited until he got to "school" to take his annual first day of school pics.

I have to share a quick school related story.

Wy was in MMO last year too. One day during naptime, his teacher had to ask him two or three times to stop kicking the wall. And it was mentioned to Jeremy when he picked Wyatt up that day. Apparently Jeremy decided to give him a "good talking to" the entire 30 minute drive home. Wy's little expression said it all - I thought something horrible had happened he looked so upset. I was actually relieved that he had just gotten in trouble at school.

So that was at least 6 months ago, a one time event that we have never mentioned again.

Fast forward to yesterday. Wy and I are watching Pinocchio together - his first time to see it.

So at one point I say:

"Look Wyatt, Pinocchio is going to school just like you!"

And he says in a total serious voice:

"I sure hope he doesn't kick the wall."

Oh my goodness! I totally cracked up! I knew exactly what he was talking about but I couldn't believe that he remembered it! Bless his heart - he is a sensitive soul.

House Update

The house is coming along. Hardwood floors are down, the tile is down but no grout yet, and the painters started on Monday. Genius that I am went to the house today armed with my camera and EVERYTHING is covered - DUH! As soon as the painters are out, I will post pics!

They did get the first coat on most of the rooms downstairs. Jeremy sneered up big time at the color that I chose for the living area, breakfast area, and kitchen. It is a darker gold color. Even I am a little nervous about it. I chose a lighter gold for the foyer and other main hallway areas. Because we have so many windows in the living area and breakfast area, I was told that I could go darker in that area. I sure hope it turns out. I know it will look better once:

1) the final coat has been applied
2) the trim has been painted white
3) the mantel has been built - it will break up that wall
4) and the cabinets are in the kitchen. I don't even think you can see much of any wall color in the kitchen once those go in.

So cabinets are supposed to go in next week and our trim guy is going to finish up. The tile guy still has to tackle our walk in shower which is a big daddy but he is waiting on painters to get out of his way for now.

We picked out half of our lights this past weekend at Lowe's. We picked out the other half today at Inline Lighting. We even had Wyatt with us but those smarties at the light store had a kids' area complete with lego's and movies. That made it so much easier. I found both of my chandeliers there along with our ceiling fan/light combos for the bedrooms.

Then we went by Best Buy for a consult with the Geek Squad on our home entertainment area. We are doing a flat screen above the mantel in the living room and we are putting all the unattractive components (Direct Tv box, DVD player, etc) in the bottom of our bookshelf hidden behind doors. Wy and I watched movie trailers in the surround sound area while J discussed all the technical stuff.

So, it is all coming together but we still don't have a move in date. Jeremy is always estimating earlier than I am. Anytime he says a date, I add 2 weeks to it. So, I think at this point, it will be mid-September. And it can't get here soon enough. We are so ready to have SPACE and our stuff out of storage. If Jeremy and I can just make it the next 4 - 6 weeks, we will be home free! He is under a tremendous amount of stress with his business, the house, the baby on the way, and dealing with me through all of this.

The other day when we were leaving the house, Wy said: "Everyday we come here and everyday it isn't ready!"

Oh, yeah, we are so with you on that one. One of these days honey child, one of these days...

Flashback Friday - new school, new baby

This time last year we were gearing up for Wyatt to start his new Mother's Morning Out program. Here are a couple of pictures from his first day.






We were also gearing up to help our friends Mark and Leslie celebrate the upcoming arrival of their first baby. A group of us hosted a baby shower for her and I found a couple of pics I snapped that day.

Doesn't she look great!?! Can't even tell she is pregnant here with the gift hiding the bump!

Bump Watch - 12 weeks

I realized today that after dropping the bomb on everyone via my blog that I was pregnant, I haven't really mentioned it since. Today marked the conclusion of week 12 - not to be confused with the start of week 12. A week is a big deal when you are counting down 40 of them.

First of all, I have to say THANK YOU so much to all my great and wonderful friends out there who have helped me with my Zofran issues. You know who you are and I do so deeply appreciate the drug sting, uh I mean support group, that was put into place shortly after I realized that a) my 30 pill Rx cost me $300 AND b) it only lasted 15 days. EEK! Yes, my sweet, dear, been there done that with the sickness during the last pregnancy husband, totally paid that #%#^@* pharmacy almost $1000 to date for my meds. BUT - he would have had to pay more if it hadn't been for my friends, and their friends, and their friends friends. You get the idea. SO THANK YOU AGAIN!

I actually have had lots of days that I have felt pretty good. And I am hoping that by the end of August, that I will be feeling back to my old self - with the exception of the fact that I have a growing baby inside of me. Can't exactly feel like my old self for another 6 months or so.

And growing this child is! The current "State of the Bump" at 12 weeks is equal to where I was at about 18 - 20 weeks last time. I mean "Becky, it is just out there." :) 12 weeks and you can definitely tell I am pregnant. And I just love my weekly emails I get from Baby Center with statements like this "although you won't need maternity clothes for several more weeks...". Ah, hello? Not all of us are 1st timers! And I have stretchy skin. And I am just trying to accommodate my unborn by giving him/her plenty of room.

And even though I hated taking the picture while living the Simple Life, I know I will regret it if I don't document the bump.

So here is 12 weeks. (I am wearing a dress b/c we had to go to the funeral home for a visitation AND dresses are just so darn comfortable. I am thinking about getting a whole line of those mumu things.)

Ok, so here I am in the terrible lighting and all - and apparently my upper lip disappears when I smile OR the growth of my stomach has pulled all extra skin down and I don't even have an upper lip anymore.



I'll do another bump update at 16 weeks and MAYBE, just MAYBE, I will be living in my new house by then. I think we are more like 6 weeks from that but even so, it will be ready enough for a picture from there for sure!
