Little Bit is 3 months!

Oh sweet baby Chase - you are 3 months old today!

I think you weigh somewhere between 11 and 12 pounds. I measured you at 24 inches in length. You have grown 6 inches since you were born! Your face has definitely filled out - your cheeks are nice and chubby and you have a second chin.

You are wearing 0 - 3 month clothes. You will be moving up soon in the sleepers though because you have no more room to grow in those length wise. You wear a size 1 diaper.

You are really starting to become more active. Your arms and legs are moving all the time. You are reaching out for the little toys that hang in front of you in your bouncy seat. And you are becoming more vocal too.

You eat about 6 ounces every 3 1/2 - 4 hours except through the night. You are a great burper.

You sleep from about 10:30 -7 without so much as a peep. You have been doing that since you were 9 weeks and 2 days.

And oh those smiles. You are giving those out daily and now include the sweet coos with them. Your little eyes light up when I get close to you with a big smile on my face and you return the smile with your little toothless grin.

You still prefer to be held but it isn't quite as time consuming as it once was. If you are really upset, you are usually just tired and after holding you close for a little bit, you fall asleep and then I am able to get back to whatever it was I was doing. You are also liking your swing - finally.

Your hair is still red in the back and the fuzz on top is a lighter red. Everyone thinks you look just like your dad.

Do They Have Weight Watchers for Dogs?

Looks like someone has been enjoying a little too much of her doggie treats...

Oh yes, Ms. Phoebe got STUCK between the porch railings! Wy was walking on the OUTSIDE of the railings and she followed him. Instead of going back the way they came, she tried to just squeeze through the railings.

And Ms. Tubbybritches got stuck.

So of course I held her in place so she wouldn't freak out and told Jeremy to quick go get my camera b/c this was blog material. You gotta take what you can get.

Then I couldn't get her out and started to panic a little. Jeremy had to scale the outside railing and work her shoulder blades back through. It took a minute and for a second I had visions of saws being brought out to "save her."

OK so the other thing we have been dealing with recently is getting someone to SLEEP IN. You're thinking our newborn right? WRONG. Chase sleeps from about 10:30 until at least 7. And it ROCKS. My 4 year old, on the other hand, has been waking up anywhere between 6:15 and 6:30. Most mornings we don't HAVE to be up until 7 as I have given up wearing makeup when I take Wy to school because I choose sleep instead. :)

So my smarty pants husband came up with this great idea to get him an alarm clock. You know Wy is a big time rule follower, right? So this is what his alarm clock looks like.

We told him that he cannot get up until the first number is a 7...and it works! I can tell he is awake before then because at exactly 7:00 on the dot he starts calling for me. But it is wonderful to get that extra 30 - 45 minutes of sleep! Just wish we would have thought of it earlier.

Spring Football Fix

We had such a fun day at the A-Day game in Tuscaloosa. I think Wy's favorite part was having his Mama and Dada all to himself for the day.

We got there way too early because Jeremy was worried about getting seats. We had about 2 hours to kill in the stadium before the game started. There was an alumni flag football game going on and Wy thought that was the actual game. About 5 minutes before the A-Day game started, Wy informed us he was "done watching football." Nice.

So he and I did quite a bit of stadium roaming. We visited the Dippin Dots cart twice and we people watched. He finally was content to sit up in the stands as long as he had a cup of ice to chomp on. Jeremy had to carry him on his shoulders all the way back to the car. We were all pretty much "give out."

Here are some pics from our day.

Yikes! Check out that lap FULL of Ritz cracker crumbs!

Modeling the visor we insisted he wear to help keep the sun off that little face.

Proud Dada

OK, at this point I told Wy we were going to have to settle for a pic of Big Al in the background.

But you know I was determined to get Wy his picture - and I finally got it.

Love this boy!

That Smile Melts My Heart

I have been trying to capture Chase's smile on my camera or video and I was finally successful doing both.

Sorry about my super sugary sweet baby talk - I just can't help myself! Oh - and Phoebe was stalking Wyatt and his powdered doughnuts which is what all the fuss is about.

Sew - A Needle Pulling Thread

Soon after Wyatt was born, my mother in law Kim upgraded her sewing machine and started making things for Wyatt. Quilts, diaper bags, burp cloths - and a much loved Thomas the Tank Engine pillowcase.

This is the quilt she made most recently for Chase...

and the diaper bag that she made to go along with it.

And bless her heart - she is determined to teach me how to sew.

I asked her to make my friend Adrian a quilt for her baby shower but she decided to show me how to do it instead.

So we went to Sir's in Fayetteville and found the fabric. Then I took the material home and cut all 60 8x8 squares.

Plus the 30 squares of the cotton "filling"? See, I don't even know what you would call that. The word "batting" comes to mind but I am not sure that is right either.

I took the material to her house and she walked me through all the sewing. She has a really nice sewing machine or there is no way I would have tried this. My biggest obstacle was getting over all my mistakes - I am too much of a perfectionist so I couldn't really enjoy the process because my crooked lines were driving me crazy!

So here is the finished product. There is a smooth side...

and a shag side...

Don't look for me at the next quilting bee but I would like to try to make one again. You know what "they say" - practice makes perfect!

Well Baby, Sore Legs

Chase had his 2 month check up today.

He weighed in at 9 lb 13 oz! Yay! He is still on the small side - about the 10th percentile - but everything else looked great.

Bless his baby heart - he had to get THREE shots and one oral vaccination. His little face turned purple he was so upset. He has been fussy all afternoon and I can tell he just doesn't feel up to par.

I am keeping my fingers crossed about tonight. I didn't want to "speak too soon" but he has been sleeping through the night without a peep since LAST THURSDAY! He goes down around 10 and wakes up around 6:30. It has been AWESOME...but I will not be surprised if he has a tough night. Those darn vaccinations - a necessary evil.

This is actually the little outfit Wyatt wore for his 2 month appointment.

Little Chase is definitely more alert these days and I was able to get a couple pics before we headed out the door this morning for his appointment.

This is my new favorite picture of him. His little expression cracks me up and I just love those little cheeks!

Spider Racket

You know when stressed out moms say their children are climbing the walls?

Well mine. literally. can.

Wyatt has been perfecting this move at his Didi and Papa's house on Sundays.

His cousins can climb up the door frames by putting a foot and hand on either side of the door frame and "walking" up.

Wyatt is not tall enough and his arms aren't long enough, so he figured out another way to get to the top.

I see a future climbing utility poles if dentistry school doesn't go well.

And as for the name, I have no idea where he came up with it but that is what he calls it. Also, in the video, I say Wyatt might be too dirty but I meant to say too clean - he had just gotten out of the shower. Mother of a newborn moment. :)

*The video takes a few moments to load. :)
